Our Services
In Eden Day Care various types of services are make available for children with learning and physical disabilities. We have provided the following services by related professions, qualified and experience skill staffs. Those main services are as follow:
A. Main Services for Children with Physical and Learning Disabilities
1. Special Education service
Special Education service is focus on individual child’s holistic development which include maximizing the potential of each child. After assessment by teacher ‘Individual Education Plan (IEP)’ was prepared for each child. The progress was re-assessed bi-annually and make a report to family member.
There are totally 10 Special Education teachers at Eden Day Care.
2. Conductive Education (CE) service
Conductive Education is a new approach we have learn from Conductive Education Centre, Naning, China. CE focus to maximize the potential ofCerebral Palsy children through a specific method, a combination of both therapy and special education, of service which include parents as animportant part of the processes.
Currently, two physiotherapists, two special education teachers and qualified Social Workers are providing the services to twenty children with cerebral palsy. The service providers are technically supported and continuous learning opportunities by professions from our partner, Silver Lining Foundation (SLF).
3. Rehabilitation service
Rehabilitation therapy focus both gross motor development and fine motor development. To achieve quality functional movement of a child is goal for all therapy services. Currently four qualified physiotherapists are providing necessary therapy services for the students as needed.
4. Social Care and Counselling service
Eden has recruited a qualified ‘Social Worker’. Her focus is to help parent and family member of the student as needed. Social Worker help the parent and a child to access further tertiary and necessary services by referring and connecting those service providers. She also helps a child to access mainstream education in respective community.
Eden starts to recruit Counselor in 2020. Main service is to support the needy family members as needed. Visit to their home, to the hospital, etc. and show them Eden stands with them.
B. Additional Services
1. Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is the use of water for treatment purposes. Hydrotherapy is widely used for the therapeutic exercises like strengthening muscle power, to relief pain, to improve balance, relaxation, etc.
2. Music Therapy
Currently in Eden Centre a qualified volunteer Music Therapist is providing services regularly for children with disabilities. Music Therapy is using music uniqueness for a child’s emotion, rhythmic body movement, to promote receptive and expressive communication skill, etc.
3. Multi-Sensory Environment / Snoezelen
A Snoezelen is a special place that offers a relaxing atmosphere with pleasant surroundings, soothing sounds, tactile experiences, massage, vibrations and gentle movement.
4. Disabled Sport
In Eden Centre disabled sport session is design for students, children with disabilities, to improve quality functional movements. Physiotherapist and special education teachers are working together to design the session.
5. Diet Supplement and Basic Medical Care
Eden Day Care is providing nutritious diet food for all students.
6. Excursion trip & Care Giver Training for parents
Eden organizes ‘Care Giver Training’ for parents and family members those who come to Day Care at least twice a year. From our toy library we also borrow some teaching aids and mobility devices to the family. Home visit by service provider was organized as needed.
7. Inclusive Nursery School
To promote access to education service by children with disabilities from the beginning the first inclusive nursery school was opened at ‘Centre for Disability in Development (CDD)’, Myaungdaka, Hmawbi Township in July 2023. Currently both children with disabilities and non-children with disabilities are welcoming and provide early child care services by experienced staffs.
8. Vocational training for Adult Intellectual Disabled person
In Eden pre-vocational class was opened for our ex-students who had over 18 years old since last ten years ago. We are planning to have separate vocational or career development program in coming year, the year 2024, for adult intellectual youth with disabilities.
9. Prayer Team
Our Chaplain and some staffs has formed a prayer team and regularly pray for student, parents and their family, staff and organization.
